Rob Lovi has been a guest instructor at my academy many times and I have taken a lot of private lessons with him. I will have to say that Rob Lovi is a very technical instructor and an awesome person with playful approach to his Jiu Jitsu creating a great environment in the class room.

I had the honors of meeting Rob Lovi during a seminnar he heldi here in Iceland 2008. During that time I realised that Robs passion for jiu jitsu has no limit. His teaching technique are great and he teaches what he knows as good as he can leaving no detail out. Halldór Sveinson – blue belt

Great Instructor and friend. I brought Rob Lovi to my school in Spain. All of my students loved his instruction and are asking for him back. I have trained with him several times and learn more and more every time. He has helped me take my game to new levels. He is very to the point and teaches so anyone can understand the concept of the technique not just the movements. Pedro Sauer 3 Stripe Blue Belt.

Rob is the best instructor I’ve trained under. The guy is a technician on the mat. He doesn’t hold back moves and he has a zen-like approach to Jiu-Jitsu. Robert Lovi is amazing and he has a passion for BJJ.

Excellent instructor! Rob is very technical and is able to teach in a way where anyone can do BJJ. He holds nothing back and loves to help his students grow, without any intimidation. It is a privilege to train under him. 10 stars without a doubt.

Rob is a really great teacher of the gentle art. He is gentle but tough, technical but not boring, and reads a class VERY well. Awesome guy, too. 10+ from me!

I know Robert since he is a purple belt, he has always being very focus on techn ique instead of pure strengh. Today as a black belt he has grown so much as a teacher that it reflex on his students that are very technical. I give him 10 stars for sure

I’ve known Robert a very long time. He is a good instructor and a fine person. Any parent would be lucky to have him work with their child. Adults are fortunate to have his skills being taught at any time.

Rob is the best! Super chill guy with massive knowledge of his craft. He has great attention to detail in his instruction. The way he breaks every move down and simplifies it is far superior to any other BJJ instructor I’ve ever worked with.

Rob is a hidden gem within the San Diego BJJ scene. He is one of the most technical instructors I have trained with and really cares about your jiu jitsu. I highly recommend training with him if you get the chance!

The guy is pure genius ! I just found out about him here in Hawaii and he blew my mind. Unbelievable. Mat movement is some if the best I’ve seen minus like the Vieira Bros but top level. He is pretty funny and charismatic too.

Glad to have you back in California sir. Lovi is like some pure old New York hardcore or punk rock band and following. Not your average guy. Not typical. But very smart and very cool. He is not about marketing and money so he does not get the recognition he deserves. Believe you me , he deserves it. He gets a bad rap at times for not being as ” expected ” as “usual” if that makes sense ? His knowledge of putting together. Or rather taking apart jiu-jitsu. Is world class. Self the most underrated in Cali.

Rob can be moody at times to a point where class atmospheres are ruined. With that said, the days where he is ready to teach, he is stellar. He has rarely, if ever, left my questions unanswered and almost always answers them in a manner that reveals the fundamental workings of a technique (i.e. why it works). I have heard many rumors about Rob, some of them true, others not, all of them irrelevant. At the end of the day, Rob is a very technical instructor who most importantly, knows how to communicate his understanding. He taught me that my greatest weapon was my mind, not my body; that technique and timing trump all else. Learn as much as you can from him and decide for yourself.

I think the poster before me was basically trying to say that Rob is human much like everybody else has good days and bad days that being said is a very genuine human the most endearing real person you’re going to meet who is also jitz instructor or anyone else for that matter. Refreshing to be around someone who genuine and will not bullshit you or Let you lie to yourself but is truly focused on helping you improve yourself. Technique instruction is second to none and he’s not greedy like most other Brazilian jujitsu instructor’s. I am happy to call Rob one of my closest friends and my jujitsu instructor.
