JJ is an absolute amazing instructor. He is very hands on and is at just about every training session, unless he is out of town or out of the country holding seminars. I have been training with him for a little over a year and a half. He is always open to questions and clarifications on a specific technique or how to alter it to cater to one’s body type and ability.

How many out there can truly say they personally train with a red black belt. JJM’s attitude and philosophy both on the mat and off is transcended to all his dedicated students. He is the most technical teacher I know. He can execute a simple sweep and make it look like a work of art. No odd twists, no contortions, no made up names … Just simple fluid Jiujitsu executed at the highest technical level. Proud to be a JJM desciple.

JJ is hands down one of the world’s best. The amount of attention he puts into each of his students is matched only by the personalization he makes with each student and their progression in jiu jitsu. He carries a great presence.

He’s Jean Jacques Machado. What more needs to be said. Technique, Philosophy, and Understanding are at a level that far surpasses all of us, except for those Masters of Masters at the highest levels.

Having met Jean Jacques and experience his passion and ability to pass on his knowledge of jiu jitsu added with the influence he has over others more than a few being good instructors themselves he is, as with any Machado brother, deserves to be recognize as a great instructor

Jean Jacques excels at what he does. When I think of what makes a good instructor/coach/trainer, I think of his technical skills, his ability to convey techniques to his students, his ability to keep students motivated, being able to foster safe but compettitive environment, being a role model and having what I would call a charisma. A great instructor in my opinion would need to posses all these qualities. Jean Jacques excells at all these. He is truly dedicated to teaching the art of bjj. His level of knowledge of jiu jitsu is unparalleled. When you go to train you can almost bet that he will be there teaching in person and will greet you by name. Above all, he was able to develop multitude of talented students and to establish a great network of students in his gym, where it feels like being with your friends and family. I have been truly fortunate to have been able to train with Jean Jacques and his students.

Jean Jacques has been my personal hero in jits for the last 12 years of training. Though I’ve mainly trained with his brother Rigan..I did have the wonderful privledge of getting to roll with Jean Jacques a handful of times. All were inspiring. Of all the brothers, Jean Jacques game is the one I study and try to emulate in every way.
