I would like to know what people rated Relson a 6 or less. Obvious trolls. Nobody who really studies GJJ would do that. Pitifull that people have to be vendictave. Relson is a great instructor.

Relson is the best instructor I’ve ever seen on the mats! Relson stresses self-defense, so for Law Enforcement and Military, he’s the guy you want to train under.

Relson is a great instructor and is true to his father’s teachings. I am honored to be a Purple belt under him.

Relson is the best instructor that I have ever encountered in my decades of training. He thoroughly explains each detail of a technique & is always willing to go over it with you. Also a genuinely nice guy on top of everything else. BJJ at its finest.

The source of my finest fundamentals. He is an amazing instructor. He believes very much in his technique, and he carries on the Legacy of Helio Gracie very well. He will tell you that “Helio Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is made for the street. That’s My daddy, my only instructor” “My Jiu-Jitsu is all basics A.B.C, that’s it” -Relson Gracie

I attended a seminar of his in Jacksonville, Florida I think at least 10 years ago. He is great.

I’ve been with Relson since my first seminar in 1998. Though I’ve traveled all over and trained many places I’ve never take rank from other instructors. Relson never ceases to amaze me with his enthusiasm or insight in the gentle art. He is a true master and fantastic instructor.

Relson is a phenomenal instructor and has developed techniques over the years that are so effective and simple that they can be deemed as being truly genius.

There is no flash with Relson’s style. It’s pure, simple, and effective Jiu-Jitsu. He keeps his style true to what was taught to him by his father, Helio. He is a true master of the art. He’s a great person and very funny. It’s a real honor to be his student.

Relson is extremely particular about following the techniques his father and founder,Helio Gracie taught him without modifying. He is always thinking of what Helio would have wanted.

Laura, anyone who has trained with Relson knows that he has a very distinct style from any of his brothers – and completely contrary to what Helio taught. Relson’s jiu-jitsu is the most unique of all the family. It’s the other brothers (Rorion, Royler, Rickson, Royce, Rolker, Robson, etc.) who adhere more to Helio’s techniques. If you’ve trained under any of his brothers, Relson will be the first to tell you that everything you know is wrong.

Dear Anonymous, Your right on many points. The only point I am not sure about…”Contrary”? Relson talked to me on several occasions about how “My Jiu-Jitsu is just like my daddy’s.” Heck… don’t argue with me about it, I guarantee you will get stuck on the phone for a minimum of 30 minutes if you debate this with Relson. give him a ring and pull up a chair… it will be a while.

Laura, this only goes to show how little you have trained with Helio’s other children. Just purchase the early Rorion/Royce Beg/Int/Adv or go purchase Gracie Combatives and compare any defense on that media to the defense that Relson shows. For that point, Relson’s guard passing is completely difference from anything any of his brother’s teach. To argue this point only shows that you haven’t trained with the entire family.

Relson is fantastic and goes to no ends to teach you as much as you are willing to sit and learn. I am very grateful for how he treated me and everyone like family right away and went out of his way to show me things to help my fight game improve and how to negate other attacks I had problems with. Not only was he patient and took extra time to help with issues I had with technique but he took everyone in on a social aspect right away and was as friendly as you could expect anyone to be! A great guy… and his self defense techniques are great. Many forget about them and truly going for the submission now that Jiu Jitsu has become such a popular “sport.” with Relson it is truly still a combat art that works great!

Had the opportunity to attend one of Relson’s seminars last year. Very cool guy, extremely funny, and a true master of the art. You don’t get to wear a Red and Black belt if you’re not one of the very best, and Relson is all that and more.

Relson is a living legend and preaches his fathers Jiu-Jitsu on a daily basis. His techniques are simple, logical, and perfect. I am proud to call him Master and look forward to his visits to our academy.
