Master Jay has been an amazing instructor for my 3 kids over the last 4 years. He is patient as they learn the latest techniques while also teaching them the core values needed to succeed on the mat and in life. The self defense lessons he demonstrates with them will be relevant for a lifetime and I am grateful that he is on the cutting edge of the industry.

I started with Frank back in 2006 and he taught me my fundementals that I now pass on to the students that I help coach in Taiwan. I've competed and trained all over the globe, and Frank is a great teacher and friend. If you're looking for traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then check out Louisiana Martial Arts Academy. When I started Jiu Jitsu I thought I was doing great. Then, the instructor I had mentioned Brian Jones. I thought to my self, why not go and see his school. After that my life was Transformed in many ways that I couldn’t even explain. Leadership, Guidance, Encouragement, Friendship and Family. Plus we have a great Banner to push us to keep going, even when it gets though, you just look at it and laugh. If you want to know what our banner says. Come and take a class at least ones and decide for your self.

Professor Brian Jones is one of a very select few people that deserves the BJJ black belt. He coaches in a very effective manner and practices what he preaches. I am very proud to be a brown belt under Professor Jones. As an affiliated junior instructor in the Valhalla Association, I am humbled to be able to write this review. Professor Jones is great person both on and off the mat. He has assisted our growth at Top Fight Academy going on 4 years now. It was by far the best decision we ever made. If you are seeking BJJ, Judo, wrestling, or general self defense instruction, look to this man if you can. You will not be let down.

I travel past 3 different BJJ gyms just to get to Brian's gym. Brian is the only instructor I met that I felt actually cared about my progression, and for that I am a life-long student. He teaches how to fight, but also how to be a man in a society that casually labels masculinity as toxic. - Valhalla blue belt

I train at a Valhalla affiliate school and have been impressed with Brian Jones since the day I met him. If you are looking to start training BJJ or just looking for something different you will not be disappointed. The way Brian teaches makes it easy for students at any skill level to learn BJJ. Everyone I have met from Valhalla Academy and the affiliates are tough as nails. That all starts with the man at the top.

Brian is not only a hell of a jiu-jitsu instructor, he is also great at explaining techniques in a way that allows you to understand how you would use it not only on the mats but also in a real self-defense situation on the street if need be. He is not only one tough dude, he also brings a lot of knowledge to his students with his judo and exercise science background. I not only consider myself very fortunate to know him and train under him, but also consider him a great friend. Also just as all his students, I can testify that his work ethic is beyond reproach and he enstills that same work ethic into to all the members of our Valhalla family.

Master Jay taught all 4 of us at some point, 2 of us beyond black belt. He is dedicated to his art and to his students. He cultivates trust and respect with students and families in an atmosphere of positivity and confidence building. I have watched him work with all kinds of children with many needs/backgrounds/abilities, and he handles them all gracefully. He also teaches other kids how to interact respectfully with kids at different levels of ability and belt status. You will certainly be happy with Master Jay.

Just can't say enough good things about Frank and his team. He walks the talk. You can tell that he works hard to live a life based on the character and principles that most martial arts profess. He demonstrates his commitment and hard work every day. The most impressive aspect that I have seen from him is his ability to connect with his students! Whether aggressive, mischievous, shy or timid, Frank is able to provide the right guidance to instill confidence, assertiveness, humility, or courage to the youngest or oldest...depending on the student. From supporting an MMA competitor to supporting a young child walking out on the mat for the first time, he is able to provide expert guidance time after time. Seems to me like he loves what he does! Real deal for sure.

Jay has been my instructor and good friend for nearly 20 years. Within that 20 years he has been an amazing instructor and always keeping things interesting. He knows just the right buttons to push to make each person better and push harder. He has a way of breaking each technique down in a way that you specifically can understand. He works hard to make sure there's always something to learn as he learns himself. Jay is definitely above and beyond the best!

We’re very thankful that Jay became our son's instructor in his younger years and taught him how to defend himself and condition his body, and beyond that - how to be respectful of and helpful to others. Jay is always fun but firm – and his students, every last one, pay attention, watch and learn from him in every class. For the past 7 years, Jay has been a great role model, good friend, and mentor to our son. Jay is a kind and decent man and we could not have asked for a better instructor when our son decided to dedicate himself to martial arts.

The JEW-jitsu guy in Syracuse. You can pay a hefty fee or kiss his ass for payment. Everyone gets promoted according to their membership - not their skill. If your membership is up - you get promoted! If you suck but you've been there for 2 years - you get promoted! Or if you're a girl, you sleep around with a few of them and then you promoted. This sleazeball needs to worry about all the STD's in that place.

Jay is not only an amazing martial arts instructor, but an amazing person as well. He taught both of my kids and me karate several years ago. His kindness and humor works fabulously with kids. He just "gets" them. He is able to come to their level and encourage no matter what. When he taught me as an adult, his jokes and approach changed appropriately. I always felt great after class and was amazed at myself that I was able to do the new things he taught me so well. I see Jay always working to perfect and enhance his craft. He is a true credit to the martial arts and to humanity.
