Robert drysdale is not just a great fighter but a great teacher as well. He breaks down every move so you understand how and why the move works. No wonder why so many top u.f.c fighters choose his school in Las Vegas. He also has one of if not the youngest world champions Marisol Romero who became world champion at just 13yrs old in the womans adult blue\purple belt at just 2 yrs training. Congrats to team Drysdale keep up the great work.

If 50% of my college instructors would have just had a solid educational class structure like at Drysdale BJJ, I would have left college so much more educated!

Not only is Drysdale an amazing competitor but also an astute, intelligent and passionate coach. He has a rare ability to break down and communicate complex jiu jitsu techniques to in a simple and easily understood way to even the most beginner of students. And more importantly he is a humble and positive person. Having traveled far and wide for jiu jitsu I can say with all confidence he is easily the best coach in the USA. If you love jiu jitsu, you will love Drysdale Jiu Jitsu.

My current nogi coach is a student of this guy. The things he has taught me is crazy, drysdale is awesome it seems. As he always knows what to do in any situation. My teacher is bad ass and as won against a lot of nogi guys that are black belt in gi. I would love to train and learn from drysdale one day as my teacher seemed to learn a lot from him.

I've been lucky enough to see each of Mr. Robert Drysdale's professional mixed-martial-arts bouts, which have taken place under the banner of Armageddon Fighting Championship on Vancouver Island. He finished each fight with precision BJJ, truly something special this man.

By jiu jitsu standard a black belt only can promote another black belt if he have 3 stripes in his belt. How come Drysdale promoted many black belts when his not qualified? what about the black belts they think they are legit? People are forgeting the history, tradition ,rules of the art...

42. Submitted by James on Friday December 23, 2011 6:15 PM
Marco- first of all you can't have stripes in your black belt, but u can have them on there. There are instructors in Las Vegas with 4,5,6 stripes on there black belt that would not last 2 minutes with Robert Drysdale or any of his black belts. And yes we are both talking about Mica and calvacanti. He says be loyal to your team then leaves Machado jiu jitsu for gracie jiu jitsu. He is a fraud. If u think other wise go to his academy and find out what a real 6x world champion is.

I do not approve of James comment. I don't know who he is. If someone doesn't think I'm a legit black belt they are more than welcome to there opinion. Let's just train Jiu-Jitsu. I hope to see you on the mats. Robert D.

If you wanna learn good jiu jitsu Robert drysdale can teach you. If you want a coach to coach you at a tournament robert drysdale is not the one you are looking for. He is never at any of his tournaments. Mica and Ricardo may not have top notch jiu jitsu but they are there for there team. If all you car is about your self they you are just like robert drysdale and you belong there. Hope this helps anybody looking to train..

Had the pleasure of training at his school while on vacation in vegas last year. Great school, great students, great instructor! That day he was showing us omaplata to leg lock transition. Brought that game back to my home school & have been working it ever since with very good result. HIGHLY recommend you train with him if you ever get the chance

I just have to disagree with Shane. One of the things I like about Drysdale is that HE HAS been at every single tournament my son has been in along with many of his coaches to support the kids and adults and that is important. In addition, I have watched him for the past year and think he has amazing ji jitsu skills, and is very patient and humble. So to each his own, but as for me and my family, we wont go anywhere. We love it at Drysdale BJJ......but this is not a place to put down or trash talk anyone. As Drysdale said, lets just train jiu jitsu! ;)

55. Submitted by William Pierce on Sunday April 22, 2012 5:48 AM
Drysdale is by far the best instructor I've ever had, the way he explains things and simplifies them is like no one else, and the amount of roll time you get with Roberts workouts are priceless, no matter which Drysdale affiliated gym you walk into just know your in for an EPIC workout. WP, OMA!!!!

Im sure someone can enlighten me on how long it takes to be elligible for each belt promotion with drysdAle jiu jitsu. I am a student under seth norman who trained/trainz under drysdale. I hope to someday experience some mat time with drysdale himself, even though seth is amazing and a great instructor himself.

57. Submitted by William Pierce on Monday August 20, 2012 1:47 AM
@newguy, each person's journey is different, that is what Seth Norman told me before taking me to Las Vegas where I received my blue belt from Robert Drysdale. I worked so hard and changed gyms to the point where I didn't even care about the color anymore, I am so honored to be a part of Drysdale jiu Jitsu and OMA, Man Seth Norman and Robert Drysdale are world class and really have changed my game, fitness level, and all around lifestyle. I could go on and on but brother just worry about getting as much time on that mat and with coach Seth as possible.

58. Submitted by Seth Norman on Monday August 20, 2012 12:22 PM
@newguy, like William Pierce stated each person's journey is different. It depends on how much time you spend on the mat, what your skill level is, and how much you can absorb and understand. To obtain a belt from the best professor in the world, "The General",can be very hard to come by. But with dedication and patience you can achieve anything you put your mind to. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask me personally and not through an online forum. With my approval you are able to attend belt testing in Las Vegas during one of Robert's testing dates. He may also do testing when he is at our facility. BTW Robert visits Oklahoma Martial Arts Academy at least once a year. Hope this helps! -Seth Norman

59. Submitted by William Pierce on Friday August 31, 2012 2:31 PM
If anyone is ever in the Edmond Oklahoma area I highly recommend OMA Drysdale BJJ, Seth Norman, and Janie are both great coaches. Seth is all about spreading the awesomeness of Drysdale Jiu jitsu.

First off, this should be a forum for celebrating a coach, not disparaging other coaches. Keep it classy and show respect. I know -- it was a hard lesson even for me to learn at times -- but there is no need to publicly badmouth other black belts. My opinion. Now, to my intended point: There are some fine coaches out there, some I respect immensely, but no one else that I know of on planet earth is as open and ridiculously generous with sharing his BJJ techniques as Robert Drysdale. NOBODY. In a sport where top professors traditionally "guard" secret techniques ... Robert Drysdale routinely hosts students from all over the world at his gym and shows them every cutting-edge and innovative weapon in his war chest. He doesn't hold back. Doesn't worry about affiliation or what school you're from ... hell, he doesn't even worry about if you might someday oompete against one of his students!!! It's crazy, but Drysdale just loves teaching and playing jiu-jitsu so much that he shares his game with any and everybody. Very high IQ guy, who, if he wasn't teaching BJJ, could probably go to a major university and become an accomplished college professor if he was so inclined. Dude just operates on another level. A true shark, if you ever roll with him. Will take the limb home with him. Fierce competitor with no tolerance for losing and who attacks non-stop (gotta respect that). Always hungry to learn. Top-notch coach -- and only 28 years old. Is usually in the gym five days a week teaching techniques. On top of that, an honest man and extremely charismatic. Exceptional attention to detail. Learned so much from Robert and the talent he has attracted. In a short amount of time, he is building one of the best BJJ teams in the world. It's not an accident. This guy is on another level and, like so many, I'm very grateful to have studied under him and received my black belt from him. He is The Real Deal.
