Dion is a great instructor with solid technique. He has a wealth of knowlegde to draw from, but he gets that everyone is an individual, and encourages his students to explore their own path. The way he is always looking for feedback and participation from the class keeps things fresh and relevant.

Dion is a wonderful instructor. He has a vast knowledge of BJJ and is a highly skilled practitioner. He understands that each student excels at different speeds and allows them to train accordingly. His class is a great environment for learning and training. Weather you are a beginner or an expert, Dion has something to offer all his students in training.

Dion Watts is an awesome individual, a great mentor, and a highly talented Jiu-Jitsu Master. He's also a man of his word, filled with integrity, and lives by respect and honor. Master Watts also instills a wealth of knowledge into his students via technique, drilling, repetition, and also encouraging us to always be in class because Jiu-Jitsu is a way of life. Simi Valley/ Ventura County is super lucky to have this rare find in a martial arts school with the amount of talent it possesses. If you are searching for some legitimate Jiu-Jitsu training and instruction, well, then you don't need to look any further else!! Watts Jiu-Jitsu Academy is everything you could ever ask for in a Jiu-Jitsu school. It's one of the very few Traditional Jiu-Jitsu schools we have today. It also prides itself on loyalty and respect. I've been training at Watts for tournaments and to get my Jiu-Jitsu better for M.M.A. fights for a long time now. In all my hours working out there, I have never ever gotten injured by a training partner. There are tons of schools that don't show any respect to people in their gyms and who are just cocky, arrogant, try to sub people at all costs, and that's how people end up hurting others unnecessarily. Watts Academy is definitely not like that at all!!!! I love training here because I know I'm going to leave with a level head, a positive attitude for the remainder of the day, a great workout, a new technique for my arsenal, and injury free. (For the most part; I mean this is a contact sport)so I know there is a definite possibility... but So far so good. These people know how to train and know how to train the correct way!!! And to make matters even better Master Watts competed a couple of times in the last year. He has totally competed tons of times back in the day... I just thought that was cool that he would give it another go after not competing in the length of time period that he stopped competing. I love it when you learn from someone who actually competes because when you see your instructor with his Gold Medal around his neck and a humble face, then you know that, this is the place you want to call your home.. There is a strong bond that everyone who trains there automatically gets drug into... Phenomenal Academy.. Enough said..

I like how it says submitted by and then the persons' name after the posts... Does that count as a verbal tap out against Master Watts??? ;)

Dion Watts has given me some great coaching. I have already won 1st place in many competitions because of his expertise in teaching. The kids/teen class is very large, which I enjoy. I have gone to many other jiujitsu schools throughout Southern California before deciding on going here because there are kids of all levels. Dion makes the classes fun and competitive where we learn a lot.

Professor Dion is an awesome instructor. He is very good at jiu jitsu. I love going to class and learning a new move, and competing with my friends when we grapple. When I get my black belt I would like to be just like Professor Dion and teach kids. If you want to study jiu jitsu come to Watts and learn with us.

Dion Watts is an amazing instructor and his school is like a second home to me, Professor Watts knowledge of jiu jitsu is incredible I started a year ago and since then Dion Watts has showed me and still teaches me on how to improve and move to the next step in my game, it is an honor to call him a true friend and to have him as my professor I love going to class everyday and learning new skills from him and hopefully one day I can be as GREAT as him!

I've trained with Dion for several years now and I've always found the training to be top notch. Dion is an excellent instructor who is always looking to expand his own knowledge and pass it on to his students. Dion runs a very competitive school, but with a welcoming attitude to everyone who walks though the door. BJJ is an amazing lifestyle and Dion Watts sets a great example of how to live it. If you're looking to start training BJJ, come to Watts.

I was skeptical, to say the least, when I enrolled my young daughter in Jiu Jitsu. Dad & big brother had only been training with Dion Watts for a few short weeks when she announced she was ready to join. Fast forward almost 2 years. I have no regrets! Dion has been a wonderful instructor who is a positive influence on the kids. Heís dedicated to his studentís success not only while training but also in life. I canít thank you enough Dion for the time youíve invested!

My name is Devin Gibson and I am a blue belt at Watts Jiu-Jitsu in Simi Valley, California. Watts Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a training gym to me. It is a place I go each week to gain mental clarity from a stressful work week. There is nothing better than getting the best workout of your life while joining the brotherhood that is the Watts family. I started training almost a year and a half ago with the intention of finding something that would help me lose weight while having fun. Over this past year I have lost over 30 lbs. from training at Watts Jiu-Jitsu. There is no martial art like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and there is no better instructor than Dion Watts. What I love most about the teaching style of Dion is how slow he teaches the fundamental class. His unique step-by-step instruction of moves and their variations really makes learning the art something everyone can do. I highly recommend Dion Watts and all of the professors at Watts Jiu-Jitsu.

Our daughter is now 11 and has been in karate (hapkido) since she was 2 1/2 years old. At age 9 when she announced she wanted to add in a second martial art (on top of all the other things she does) I honestly didn't think it would last long. Fade in/fade out and our kid absolutely LOVES BJJ with Dion. I'm not entirely sure she would have loved it as much were it not for the fun atmosphere that Dion combines with his training techniques and drills. Without a doubt, our daughter is in exactly the right place. We drive a half hour each way for our daughter to train at Simi Valley JJ. It's worth every mile and every cent. Cannot recommend Dion and his crew highly enough.
