Top academy with top teacher and mentor. Ivam Maciel is a extremely high level black belt with a exceptionally brilliant style of teaching. He always manages to get the message across clearly and never hesitates to assist in developing your game!!! He's helped my game massively and I cannot begin to thank him for the time and effort he has put into me! You cannot replace the experience he has and especially when it comes to competition level. I have been fortunate enough to work with him and his team and can assure anyone who is interested in the sport to consider him I guarantee you will notice a change in your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As for the Team they are always there to support you and work with you to improve your game and there is such a varied level of skill that it always possesses a challenging roll no matter what your background or skill level.

A great teacher and great mentor, and also a good friend. There is always a tremendous team atmosphere at the academy, no egos and everyone is happy to help everyone else, regardless of skill level. I've always enjoyed training at BJJ academy with Ivam, and we're always being pushed to improve, the teaching is very high quality. As well as this Ivam always manages to organise great seminars for his students, particularly the recent visit from the legendary Ricardo de la Riva! I appreciate the help Ivam has given me over the last two years and look forward to continuing to train with him for many years to come.

Ivan is a professional warrior, determined, met and started training with him here in JiuJistu Cascavel/Parana/Brazil. At that time we suffered we practiced every night after a tiring day of school and work. and he could not always given as to correct the position we were repeating until perfect. Students who want to learn jiujitsu, recommend and approve Ivan Maciel, who I assure you who have achieved their goals. You and Ivan, success in his career, and whenever you need to know they can rely on friends who were here at Cascavel. OSSs Jota

I was on holiday this week near Worthing and was looking for a place to train. I looked on google and found Ivam's BJJ Academy. I can say that the school is top knotch and the environment is friendly and Ivam Maciel is a very capable and knowledgeable instructor. I was able to stop by for Friday and Monday classes. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by Ivam and felt right at home. I rolled with as many students as I could on both days that I was there and they are very skilled and also friendly. At the end of both classes (after open mats and most people had left) I rolled with Ivam for at least 15mins. He was able to answer any and all questions that I had in an easy to understand way. Now I have some good new moves to add to my repertoire. Next time I visit the area I will definitely come back to train with Ivam Maciel at BJJ Academy!! Oss

I started training with Ivam 3 years ago and can't say enough good things about this gym! Ivam is a fantastic coach and friend to his students. Leading by example he creates a hard working, ego free environment where members can learn and develop their game under expert guidance! Having trained at a number of gyms Ivams style and approach to teaching is second to none! Ivams knowledge and experience means that whatever your level he can tailor his sessions to your needs! If you live anywhere near Brighton and are looking to start bjj or want to improve your game you owe it to yourself to get down to Ivam Maciel BJJ!

Ivam is a great coach who really knows how to get the best out of his students. He ensures there's a great team ethic and works hard to include everyone no matter what level they are at. I feel very fortunate to have trained and competed as part of his team.

Ivam Maciel is a world class BJJ instructor and has had a major influence on my Jiu Jitsu experience. He is methodical and structured in his classes and has a natural talent for breaking down the movement to help an absolute novice to understand the dynamics of the movement. He has a good understanding of the english language which is a big help to understand and communicate to all of his students. As a friend and coach he is always there to support us and guide us on our journey to compete and represent the school. IMBJJ Team are by far the most welcoming bunch of guys I've ever trained with and am honoured to train with them and happy to represent the team, come train, get fit, have fun and win at the same time! What more could anyone want for from a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school?

I am proud to say that as one of Ivam's longest standing student; I have never regretted walking through that door more than 4 or 5 years ago when I was 19. Not only that he is a talented bjj instructor, he has become a good friend of mine who will share a helping hand both on and off the mats. Ivam's teaching is particularly efficient as he adapts to the abilities of his students rather than seeking the students to conform to a set teaching. Thus the vast number of medals and accolades gained within IMBJJ reflects the product of his teachings. The gym has a very friendly atmosphere and it definitely a place to be whether you are looking to be a true bjj practitioner or a sport to keep up an active lifestyle See you on the mats OSS!

What more can I say in addition to all the above comments?! It's a privilege to train with Ivam- he's exceptionally talented on the mat, the classes are well structured and in a fantastic friendly environment, and his submissions are something else, and Lord knows I've been on the end of many of them! Ivam is a friend as well as a coach and mentor and I can't speak highly enough of him and his teaching.

Ivam is a great coach, nice guy and is always approachable when it comes to the learning of his students. Weather it is for fitness, self-defence, MMA or pure BJJ, Ivam is experienced in teaching and practising all of these. Good lineage, great bunch of fellow students and an excellent location makes IMBJJ the place to go!

I met and trained with Ivam fairly soon after he arrived in the UK. He has trained me in both BJJ & MMA and helped me make a transition from a life of striking into a love of grappling. As my career became more demanding Ivam still made time for me, as did the guys at the Academy, to progress at a slower rate and even now with high career demands I see the Academy as a family. Ivam is a good friend & a brilliant instructor...Oss!

Sensei Ivam maciel is a great teacher and what i believe sets him apart is how he is always looking for the best for his students and his trust in his students, i have been training with sensei ivam from the start of my time on the mats and would not think to go anywhere else, his knowledge of the sport is amazing and how he adapts he teaching style weather it be to gi, no-gi, self defense or mma his variations are endless and effective, all the students at the academy i can say have all become like family all willing to help on or off the mats with any problems you could have, i would like to say it has been a pleasure to train under sensei ivam and it is an honour to wear sensei ivam patch oss!

From the point of view of a beginner in the sport, I have to say It is a pleasure to be under Ivam teachings. The little details about techniques are the ones that make you better, and Ivam focusses this. He is always there for any question you have... Apart from that, you can feel the good environment in the mat, which is a reflection of the discipline and respect he teaches us. Oss!

I have been practicing BJJ for over 2 years, and due to my job (military) I move around frequently. I have therefore trained at various clubs and feel confident enough to say without hesitation, that Ivam's club and his instruction is the best - by far. He brings the Brazilian way of doing things to his class which is never 'lost in translation' due to his excellent command of English. His BJJ is technically detailed and effective. He is very approachable and he club is open to people from all abilities. Mutual respect and comradeship pervades the entire club. This is a club to be a member of and certainly one to watch for the future. I feel very priviledged to be part of the Ivam Maciel 'family'. Oss.
