Shayne helped me develop my game as a white belt who couldn't understand under hooks into a great artist today. I owe a lot to him, including my triangle which is one of my best submissions. He is a great instructor who has a great understanding of no-gi grappling which transitions well to his imposing and dominant gi game. TWINKLE TOES!

My husband and I signed are three boys ages 9,10 and 13 up for BJJ with Jason not knowing what to expect. And we have come to regard him very fondly. He is an extremely patient, understand yet firm instructor. His classes and students come first. I have two boys with ADHD and Jason has not only gotten their attention focused but also taught them respect at a whole new level. I cannot give him enough credit for his talent and capabilities as an instructor of this fine art. I would highly recommend him and his classes to anyone!!

MY JIU-JITSU RANT. BY: BOBBY THOMPSON

Here's a lengthy rant I put together on my background with the art and sport of Gracie/Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. I'm not a writer and I never blog so it's erratic and jumps around a quite a bit. Many of you have written me and I've made some friendships from having developed the site so I thought I would share a little about who I am, my history in the sport, some of my experiences (positive and negative) and my opinions about styles of teaching and things as trivial as terminology. Basically it's a brain fart. Please let me know your thoughts. These are just my opinions and they are not wrong or right, just what I believe. We are all entitled to them... click here to read the rest

CONGRATULATIONS TO RICKY LUNDELL!

Ricky Lundell closed out 2011 with 1,820 votes making him the most sought after BJJ instructor of 2011. Ricky received his black belt from Gracie Jiu-Jitsu living legend Pedro Sauer and was picked up after winning the FILA Worlds by Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist Cael Sanderson and awarded a scholarship to wrestle for Sanderson at Iowa State University with no prior wrestling background. Ricky is a multiple time FILA World Champion, Absolute Pancrase World Champion, and currently the personal coach to UFC superstars Frank Mir, Dan Hardy, Joe Lauzon, and many more. Professor Sauer also did well locking in 2011 at number 3 in the rankings. Congratulations to Ricky and all of the instructors who have brought the art and sport of BJJ so far.
