This site is good for that - You can trace an instructors lineage...and if it is confirmed by the site, then chances are its true. If they have no confirmed lineage, then i would be asking questions.

I have seen him grow from a young boy in my kids class to a young man competing and training with the best jiu-Jitsu players. There is no doubt he will make a difference in many of his students lives. Definitely knows his Jiu-Jitsu and is a wonderful coach.
